PRACTICE NURSE

27 Beaumont Street Medical Practice

We currently seeking applications for an experienced Practice Nurses who wish to join our established central Oxford practice. We are looking ideally for 20 hours per week over 3 days; however there is some flexibility with these hours.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the core competencies of practice nursing including wound care, child immunisation, travel health, independent and proactive chronic disease management (in particular Asthma and COPD) and cervical cytology. In addition, experience of management responsibilities would be beneficial, as there will be scope for the successful applicant to take on additional individual organisational and management responsibilities.  

Training is available for the right candidate, along with support for professional development and clinical supervision.

We are a GMS practice with approximately 7500 patients. The practice delivers medical and nursing services to a diverse population including a significant number of students. Experience or interest in minor illness; sexual health; health promotion and mental health would also be beneficial.

We are a team of 5 GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Partner), with a strong existing nursing team, including a part-time Practice Nurse, an HCA and Phlebotomist supported by an efficient and friendly non clinical team. Patient feedback is excellent and demonstrates that we offer high quality patient centred care. We are interested in speaking to anyone who would be keen to join our team.

Person Specification

  • Registered General Nurse with evidence of current NMC registration
  • Ideally at least 2 years experience in a community/primary care setting with flexibility to adapt to the inevitable changes inherent within this setting.
  • Provide support for the practice’s fulfilment of the Quality Outcomes Framework and local Quality Improvement Schemes.
  • Ability to work independently and also within a team.
  • Knowledge of EMIS Web would be beneficial
