We are looking for a Salaried GP to work between 4 and 8 sessions per week at our surgery in Shirley, Southampton. As a GP working at Victor Street surgery, you will join a team who work collaboratively in a values-based organisation to deliver a “healthy Southampton for all” by outworking our vision: to provide the best possible quality service for our patients within a confidential and safe environment by working together. You will ensure care is seamless for our patients, and that everyone involved is working together. You will provide the capacity and expertise to support patients to engage with their health needs to make positive change. Clinical Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. However, the practice is currently investigating and trialling alternative working methods to reduce the administrative burden place upon GPs with todays demands. You will feel well supported and your workload will be well balanced. Your day to day duties will include: • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health • Providing counselling and health education to patients • Collecting data and undertaking regular cyclical audits • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, utilising the eRS system • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate • Contributing to the attainment of all quality indicators (QoF) and any local or national initiative that the practice takes part in • Completing insurance and other medical reports as required Our team is ever expanding through the support of the PCN. We have Social Prescribing link workers, first contact physiotherapy, a clinical pharmacist, a primary care mental health nurse and peer support workers, and a dedicated Enhanced Health to Care Homes team working alongside us. We are also looking at recruiting additional Allied Health Professionals such as GP Associates, Pharmacy Techs, Physician Associates or Paramedics to assist with the GP workload.
