Forensic Medical Examiner – States of Jersey Police

Exciting and Varied role as Forensic Medical Examiner. Training is provided, with ongoing support from a close community of Forensic Physicians and Police colleagues. We provide services to police custody, customs, and sexual assault resource centre.
Assess fitness for detention/interview;
Manage intoxication and withdrawal from substance abuse;
Document and photo-document defendants in cases of sexual assault;
Road Traffic Law assessment;
Taking of forensic samples;
Forensic medical assessment at death scenes;
Mental Health Law assessments;
The successful applicant would meet the following criteria (support to achieve can be provided);
Registered Medical Practitioner (Essential)
Basic Training should consist of:
College of Policing course;
FMERSSA (working towards)
Immediate life support
Level III Safeguarding
Understanding of faculty standards and use of faculty pro-formas
Minimum Service Commitment:
1 weekday per week, 1 weekend per month
Minimum 10 hours per year of continuous professional development, of which 6 hours consists of external courses and meetings in UK;
