Excellent supportive team

We are looking for another salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team. We are a team focused on maintaining a sustainable and enjoyable work environment. We strongly believe that fostering and maintaining a positive ethos and shared vision leads to high quality patient care.

We are committed to finding the right person for this role and are flexible regarding sessions/days worked, encouraging professional development. For example: we have GPs on the LMC, the Southern Primary Care Collaborative Board and Devon CEPN. We are actively involved with the Intermediate Care Team and have GPs with specialist interests in dermatology.

We are passionate about advancing Primary Care to meet the current and future challenges; we provide the hub for the Brixham and Paignton Medical Alliance (BPMA) Care Home Visiting Service, which was developed and piloted highly successfully at Mayfield last year.

A typical session consists of 14 face-to-face appointments with a mixture of 15 minute routine slots and on-the-day triaged appointments. Duty surgeries are carried out in pairs. Our Paramedic does the vast majority of the home visits and our prescribing Pharmacist manages medication queries and reviews, along with repeat prescriptions. We aim to finish daily by 6pm.

Our administrative staff have been trained to signpost patients to the right care pathways. We have improved our website to enable many patients to be independent. This improves the flow of care and allows patients with the greatest need to get the care they need.

We meet daily for coffee breaks and operate an ‘open doors’ policy. There are regular educational meetings and socials throughout the year such as an annual Dartmoor dog walk. For the last two years we have also entered a team for the Totnes Raft Race.

We would welcome you to visit us for an informal chat and to see how we work- please contact our Practice Manager Colin Whitford (01803 546408 or 07795 294309, email colin.whitford@nhs.net) or Dr Trevor Avis (07870 481289, email trevor.avis@nhs.net). http://www.mayfieldmedicalcentre.co.uk?
