Salaried GP – Maternity Cover – Worthing, West Sussex
Competitive salary dependent on experience
Closing date 30th November 2024
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated, hardworking General Practitioner to join our friendly and experienced Team for a one year fixed term contract to provide maternity cover, commencing in January 2025.
We have a vacancy for 8 sessions per week. However, job shared may be considered.
Worthing Medical Group is a large, innovative Practice in central Worthing caring for over 20,000 patients. The Practice is based over three sites and we will be moving to the Worthing Integrated Care Centre (WICC), a purpose built, state of the art new build site in late 2024.
The Practice is highly supportive and there is a strong sense of Team, making this a genuinely enjoyable place to work. Our ethos for the Clinical Team is that you should be free to be a Clinician, so we have an army of Administrators for you to delegate work to.
Our Team-based approach means there is always great variety in your working week as you rotate through a range of different roles.
The Partners and Management Team recognise the importance of education and training, and as a Practice we offer fortnightly half-day education sessions for all clinical staff. These sessions are more than adequate to meet your annual CPD appraisal requirements. There is a thorough induction process for new recruits and we have regular clinical supervision as part of the education programme.
As a large GP Practice with a varied demographic, we have worked hard to ensure our services meet the needs of our population:
- We offer a frailty service to our 900 care home residents, which is a GP-led session each morning for acute matters whilst our Team of experienced ANPs provides weekly rounds to each home.
- We have an in-house Mental Health and Social Prescribing Team, which comprises an experienced Mental Health Nurse, a Mental Health Support Worker and a Social Prescriber.
- We have a dedicated Team who deliver our bespoke service for homeless people in Worthing and the surrounding area.
- Our Clinical Pharmacists manage Medicines Management, including EPS, medication reconciliation and Controlled Drugs reviews.
- A large multidisciplinary Chronic Disease Team supports patients to manage their long-term conditions.
Clinical Duties:
Clinical duties comprise a weekly mixture of the following:
- Access Team – dealing with matters on the day which patients have contacted us about. There is a Team Leader each day, supported by the Reception Team to manage resources safely and effectively on the day. They are joined by three other Clinicians to help with telephone consultations and to see any patients when clinically appropriate.
- Continuity Clinic – a session once a week in which to book your own follow-ups and complete all your personal admin.
- Admin GP – this is an all-day role which entails reviewing blood test results for anyone who is away or where they are not ‘owned’, any prescribing issues, referral queries, fit notes etc. The aim of the role is to ensure that there is a central place to sweep admin issues so that your personal admin is only ever your own.
- Frailty GP – this is a morning session, actioning the calls and visit requests we receive from our Care Homes on the day. We cover over 40 Care Homes, hence the need to have a specific role for this group of patients.
- Docman GP – this is a half-day session managing the incoming clinical documentation for the Practice.
