GP Locum - Maternity Cover – Willow Green Surgery

An opportunity exists for a GP to join Willow Green surgery. We need GP Maternity cover for 4 to 8 sessions between December 2024 and August 2025. Typically, the sessions would occur on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, but we are open to discussions and are offering a competitive salary

About us; we are a busy training practice situated in East Preston a coastal village in the Arun District of West Sussex. Our clinical team and administrative processes are streamlined to provide the highest quality of care. As a result, our clinicians are able to focus more on patient care. With ANPs, FCPs, Pharmacists, Practice Nurses, and Health Care Assistants as well as a highly efficient, friendly, and supportive administration team, we are proud to offer a range of healthcare services in a collaborative friendly working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To work as an autonomous practitioner
  • Expanding patient list with a well-managed workload, as well a varied patient demographic
  • Mix of telephone, face to face and e-consultations
  • Responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care.
  • Contribute to the effective management of the practice, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract, additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
  • Provide other general medical services to meet identified patient need.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems whether self-referred, or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
  • Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice
  • Be available and accessible to patients at agreed times
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes
  • Undertake all duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care
  • Attend team meetings and other clinical meetings as necessary
  • Provide on call cover for the practice.

Managerial

  • Awareness of, and compliance with, all relevant organisation policies and procedures, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety and infection control. Apply these to all aspects of one’s own work.
  • Undertake all mandatory training as determined by the practice.

Quality

  • Adhere to GMC Good Medical practice.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
  • Adhere to National and local guidelines (e.g NICE)
  • Engage with local quality frameworks e.g. QoF, Quality Improvement and Prescribing Incentive Schemes
  • Reflect on personal practice through SEA

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
  • National Performers List registration
  • Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
