Minehead Medical Centre is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our team of professionals! 
Minehead is a coastal town in Somerset, lying on the south bank of the Bristol Channel and within easy reach of Bristol, Taunton, and Yeovil. The town is surrounded by beautiful scenery, Exmoor national park, and some fantastic walks and cycle routes. In February 2024, OneMedical Group took over Minehead Medical Centre. We are working closely with the team and local stakeholders to improve and develop the service. It's an exciting time to join us, as the service continues its transformational journey. As a team we’re passionate about what we do, making sure that patients are receiving the best care possible and in the right way for them.

The Practice Nurse will play an important role in the future of the service and will be part of a wider team, who can be agile, innovative, and future focused. The successful candidate must have experience of patients with a variety of long-term health conditions, be comfortable with change, able to work autonomously and keen to work in non-traditional care systems. A willingness to learn and develop their skills and undertake training relevant to their role is also essential, with an openness to support the wider nursing team.

You will have a passion for supporting patients to be healthy by utilising your skills in health prevention, screening, and early management of long-term health conditions. You will strive to continuously deliver quality and safe services to a high standard. The post-holder will be expected to work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver excellent nursing care and to maximise Practice income such as QOF and enhanced service contracts.

Note: This is a part-time job 30 hours per week. The full-time equivalent for us is 40 hours per week.

Practice Nurse Core Responsibilities will involve:
•    Venepuncture 
•    Blood pressure
•    ECG 
•    Height/Weight/BMI
•    Health Promotion
•    Childhood and Adult Immunisations
•    Wound Care
•    Contraception
•    Cervical Screening
•    Spirometry
•    Long-term condition management such as Diabetes, COPD, Asthma
•    Some experience of long-term condition management and cervical screening is essential. 

The successful candidate must:

•    Be registered with the NMC
•    Have a degree in Nursing
•    Have substantial Practice Nurse experience
•    Evidence of ongoing CPD
•    Minimum of 1 Long Term Condition diploma
•    Have knowledge of patients with long term conditions
•    Be familiar with Patient Group Directions (PGD’s) and associated policy
•    Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.

About Minehead Medical Centre

Minehead Medical Centre (MMC) is a vibrant central hub for the town, with a dedicated team as close-knit as the rest of Minehead's population. Minehead Medical Centre is the only GP service in the area. The other two GP surgeries are located much further out on the outskirts. The patient list size is 12,300 with a slightly higher number of aging population when compared to the rest of Somerset. In recent years, Minehead Medical Centre has undergone refurbishment works to provide additional clinical rooms on the ground floor.  Minehead is a coastal town in Somerset, lying on the south bank of the Bristol Channel and within easy reach of Bristol, Taunton, and Yeovil.
