Old Mill & Millgates Medical Practice are looking for a 4 session salaried GP to join their busy practice, covering the main surgery in Poringland and branch surgery in the nearby village of Hempnall

 

Working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to support and care for a diverse patient group.  The role will include all general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, as well as:

Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, occasional home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion;

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation;

Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and un-diagnosed problems;

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness;

Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols;

Providing health education;

Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards;

Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements;

Delivering enhanced services;

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions;

All general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

 

About the Candidate

All applicants should have the following qualifications:

Fully qualified GP with GMC registration

Annual appraisal and re validation (when appropriate)

Be on the NHSE medical performers list

and skills, including:

Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services;

Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date;

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety;

Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice;

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner.

We are ideally looking to cover Mondays and Tuesdays though flexibility around days is an advantage 
 

About Us

Old Mill and Millgates Medical Practice, Poringland, Norfolk is a semi-rural dispensing practice whose patients (some 9,000) are cared for by seven, dedicated GPs in conjunction with a supportive, multidisciplinary team including two Paramedics, a Nurse Practitioner, experienced Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants as well as excellent Secretarial and Ancillary Staff. 

Our aim is to provide the highest standards of clinical care within the resources at our disposal and have an excellent reputation in the local community. Our main branch surgery in Poringland is a modern, state of the art building, large enough to accommodate our attached staff including Midwives, Mental Health Workers, Social Prescribers, First Contact Practitioners, and a Clinical Pharmacist. 

We have first-rate training facilities and are a teaching practice currently teaching two years of medical students from the University of East Anglia.
