Maternity cover, Part Time Dispenser over 2 days (16 hrs/week over Monday and Friday) – starting ASAP
Job description
Collingham Church View Surgery are seeking maternity cover, part- time experienced Dispenser to join their friendly team. The post holder will be responsible for a range of duties relating to issuing medication and stock ordering, in line with practice policy and legislation and to support the dispensary manager in ensuring a high level of service is delivered and effective stock and financial control of the dispensary. Accuracy and attention to detail are important as well as computer literacy. We use systmone (S1).
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Issuing stock items and prepared prescriptions
- Collection of prescription charges/checking patient exemption statements
- Dispensing acute prescriptions
- To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor.
- Operation of efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the dispensary with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage
- Checking goods as and when they are delivered and recording generic details. Stocking shelves, refrigerators using rotation method.
- Ensure drugs are received and stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Any fridge items are stored at appropriate temperature and temperature control log.
- Remove out of date stock from the shelves, refrigerator
- Disposal of patient returned unused medicines using the yellow burns bin, or any CD to be disposed following procedure.
- Dispensing and checking repeat prescriptions
- Taking orders for repeats and dealing with queries from support staff
- Dealing with queries from patients regarding their prescriptions
- Use computer to keep records up to date
- Ordering Drugs through the computer system to the wholesalers
- Handling prescription money or other private money through the card machine or cash.
- To ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored and banked and a record kept of all financial transactions
- Assist when required to meet targets in relation to dispensing doctors scheme
- Dispensing private prescriptions
- Checking colleagues’ dispensing
- Ensuring the Dispensary area remains clean and tidy
- Ensure controlled Drugs (CDs) are ordered, handled and recorded appropriately
- Sorting, stamping and endorsing prescriptions
- Ensure all prescription money is balanced daily and queries resolved at the time of balancing and sufficient change is available.
- Give advice on HC1 forms or prepayment form to assist patients with costs
- Monthly out of date emergency bag and doctors bags, remove stock and update intradoc records and reorder where necessary
- Ensure all items are ready for the delivery service marking prescription bags to highlight any additional items
Other
- To answer telephone calls & passing on messages as appropriate
- Dealing with problems & enquiries
- Inputting information onto computer
- To work flexibly within the team & to provide cover for annual leave/sickness
- To collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient/Dispenser
- To promptly forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the Dispensary Manager according to practice policy.
- To take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time.
- To undertake any necessary work as may be required and appropriate to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing serviceJob
Salary: £10.50-£11.50 per hour
