We have a vacancy for a full time Practice Nurse, preferably with Prescribing, or who is looking to develop their skills, knowledge and competencies further with the support of a team of GP's.
We operate an 'on the day' triage system and we are looking for someone who can provide support to the GP's and other healthcare professionals.
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience and ideally will have an interest in chronic disease management (respiratory would be great!) as well and the management of minor illness.
The candidate would take responsibility as the infection control lead, ensuring compliance through audit and action, also attending meetings as a representative of the practice.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an experienced Nurse who will be responsible for supporting the GP's with the management of the presenting patient, providing appropriate care and treatment according to Practice Policy and Protocols.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate safe clinical decision making whilst working within their professional boundaries at all times.
Chronic disease management currently forms part of this role and experience and/or interest in respiratory conditions would be advantageous.
Overview of our organisation:
We are a single site practice located to the North East of Norwich, in Old Catton. Our patient list size is 8100 patients and growing and we have 3 GP partners and 1 salaried GP, supported by a multi-disciplinary team.
We have recently been approved as a learning organisation and look forward to welcoming our first ST2 in February 2024, with the prospect of a TNA joining us later in the year too.
The working pattern is to be agreed upon successful interview, however our usual surgery hours are between 8am and 6pm, with the potential to do enhanced hours from 7am on a Tues, Weds or Thursday should the successful candidate be able to.
The core responsibilities of the role are;
Assisting the Healthcare team with on the day management of the triage system.
Management and monitoring of chronic diseases as required by the Quality and Outcomes Framework.
Lead in infection control, conducting audits and proving reports in relation to these, document action points to ensure compliance.
Participate in annual appraisal
Attend and fulfil mandatory training requirements
Perform FeNo and Spirometry
General treatment room duties
Participate in and contribute to seasonal health promotion campaigns
Any other duties as reasonably requested by the Practice within your competencies.
What we want from you:
Essential
A relevant Nursing degree
Current NMC registration with active PIN
Evidence of Continuing professional development/Commitment to professional development
Competent in the nursing duties required for the role
Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presenting)
Knowledge of Primary Care
IT skills; Microsoft Windows, Excel, Teams, Outlook
Ability to motivate and train staff
Desirable criteria
Experience in using System One and Ardens templates
Experience in working with acute and minor illness would be advantageous
Previous experience of General Practice
