We are a trust owned, traditional rural practice and all profits are put back into our patients- so we are well known for longevity of staff and a strong collegial culture. All Doctors and staff meet up for protected break times at least 3 times a day with (cake, cheese and crackers provided!) and the shared patient lists, clinical duties and open door policy means always working together. There is a great mix of Rural and urban presentations, with a very good local hospital 30 minutes away.

Winton Practice is known as the cornerstone practice for training in the region, with long standing GP Registrar and Medical Student placements and 2 GP trainers and the Programme Director for the region, in the team.

The team of 6 doctors have come and stayed, with one local kiwi, one originally from the US, one from Dubai and three UK trained doctors. A high nurse to GP ratio means workload is well delegated and new ways of managing our admin load and protecting GPs to see a broad range of patient presentations (not just the complex ones!) is regularly on the drawing board. Rostered admin time and regular peer review is prioritised and protected. Growing patient demands and the aim to keep GP to patient numbers low, this practice is open to long or short term roles for more than one GP.
