Role: Clinical Learning Facilitator (Community) (part-time appointment)

Role Summary
The University of Plymouth Peninsula Medical School (PMS) is seeking a practising GP who is passionate about medical education and interested in delivering educational sessions on Primary Care, consultation analysis and communication skills as part of the Year 5 undergraduate medical programme at our Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton) site.
The Year 5 undergraduate experience is composed of Preparing for Practice in the clinical environment with a Supporting Academic Programme (SAP) delivered in small groups on a Wednesday morning. SAP sessions are small group learning delivering interactive, clinically based, practical sessions.
You will be expected to facilitate and manage student academic group learning, using your expertise to probe and stimulate reflection, reasoning and problem solving and to support students to activate their existing knowledge and to integrate and apply new learning. You will ensure that student group learning activities are participatory, collaborative, reflective, and student centred. You will contribute to assessment, curriculum development and quality assurance as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and facilitate regular learning activities for the BMBS programme. Identify and feed upwards where current provision is in need of revision / improvement
Contribute to students’ learning as appropriate, identification and production of learning materials as appropriate
Contribute to the quality assurance and evaluation of the programme e.g. through the provision of feedback and by taking part in teaching observation/peer review.
Provide high quality facilitation and tutoring
Liaise with facilitators delivering compatible content in other areas of the course and other sites as appropriate
Stay up to date with programme and School developments, including regularly reading and responding to emails, and attending staff development meetings and in-service training activities as required for the role
Attend School meetings and committees as appropriate
Work as a team member, developing productive relationships with other staff / across sites
Undertake additional educational roles as required and participate in other areas relevant to student experience as appropriate e.g. recruitment, marketing, student events and activities.
