Job summary

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is looking for additional doctors with an aptitude for telephone triage. The positions are based in our 999 Emergency Operations Centres in Bristol and Exeter (please note that remote working is not currently available for the EOC Doctor role).

The Trust aims to provide doctor rota coverage between 0800 - 0000 7 days per week. We would specifically encourage applications from doctors interested in evening shift work, although shifts times are flexible.

Main duties of the job

Key aspects of the role will include:

Telephone consultations directly with patients, relatives and/or their carers

Working as part of our clinical team to provide primary care support to paramedics, nurses and emergency care practitioners within the EOC along with telephone support to our ambulance clinicians on the road.

Review, triage and re-prioritisation of 999 calls

Onward referral to appropriate alternative services

Full registration with the General Medical Council on the General Practitioner List or Specialist List (Emergency Medicine)
