Recruiting for a GP Partner or salaried GP with a view to partnership

We are looking for a GP colleague who wants to help us shape the future of our growing practice. We strive to combine continuous and personal care with modern effectiveness and efficiency. We offer excellent clinical care, warmth, inspiration and courage to those challenged by illness.

Blackthorn Medical Centre is a highly regarded training practice for GP’s, nurses, paramedics, ACPs and medical students.

We have developed innovative ways to make this enjoyable and rewarding with paramedic practitioner and clinical pharmacist support as well as a highly skilled nursing and admin team providing document handling, care navigation and covid vaccination provision for the PCN.

One of the partners is clinical co-director of ABC PCN We hold a contract with the Trevor Gibbens Unit, providing GP services to this local medium secure forensic psychiatry inpatient facility.

Blackthorn pioneered patient- centred care as early as the 1980’s, blending conventional medicine with anthroposophic care and with social therapies. From our NHS practice a therapeutic social prescribing facility developed (the Blackthorn Trust Garden and Cafe) helping patients with chronic illness to regain control over their health and life and find ways back to work ( see www.blackthorn.org.uk) . The Blackthorn Trust runs an innovative lifestyle changing Type 2 Diabetes research project (DWELL) in 2020 and continues to run a chronic pain programme.

The practice achieves top QOF targets, has a ‘good’ CQC rating and performs strongly on prescribing with for instance one of the lowest rates of antibiotic prescribing in the ICB.

We are looking for a partner to take on 6-8 sessions a week . Please contact Senior Partner Dr Saskia Renkema, srenkema@nhs.net ,or Practice Manager Debra Bell, debra.bell1@nhs.net for more information or to arrange an informal visit.
