Exciting sabbatical or regular locum sessions have become available at Sid Valley Practice, a beautiful coastal town in East Devon. Successful applicants would be made to feel as part of our team and we would welcome the opportunity to support your career.

We are a friendly and energetic training practice looking to employ a forward-thinking GP with the clinical and organisational skills to work alongside our multi-disciplinary team. We have regular clinical meetings to support learning and encourage team participation, and meet daily for coffee. This is best served on our sunny terrace with views of the beautiful Sid Valley!

Our contracted clinical services are delivered by skilled and motivated doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and HCAs. Everyone helps one another! We are also extremely well served by our community district nursing, Urgent Community Response and palliative care teams. Home visits are often managed by our community teams. Our admin team are kind and supportive and developing their skills to help our workload.

We are keen to preserve the ethos of good quality General Practice whilst cultivating careers which not only benefit patients but also our own families. Our GPs share their clinical responsibilities with offering GP training, providing surgical services (skin cancer, carpal tunnel and general minor surgery) and research. All list holding doctors have one admin session per week pro rata but extra time is given for additional responsibilities and training.

We are keen to support 'New to Practice GPs' who are enrolled in the new to practice fellowship and international GPs, we are currently in the process of applying for a visa sponsorship license. All face to face appointments are 15 minutes in duration. The sabbatical position is for 12 months, list holding 6 sessions. We would consider non listing holding applicants and shorter contract lengths. Our GPs receive competitive numeration, 6 weeks annual leave, one week study leave and one day of audit activity to support practice work. This would be available pro rata to successful sabbatical applicants also. We are happy to consider the possibility of remote working for some sessions.

We welcome interested applicants to visit and are keen to introduce you to the extended team so you can ask further questions of what day to day life is really like. Alternatively take us for a ‘test drive’ paid locum or shadowing sessions are an option. To apply please submit your CV with a covering letter to: sraistrick@nhs.net Sid Valley Practice, Beacon Medical Centre, Sedemuda Road, Sidmouth, Devon, EX10 9YA
