Introduction

The surgery is well-established in the town with an excellent reputation for patient care and being patient focused. It draws patients from all sections of the town and surrounding villages and the current patient list size is c. 6,000. We are looking for an Operations Manager to join our strong team. Acting as a role model, the Operations Manager will deliver strong leadership and operational performance standards, developing and supporting the Practice Clinical and Administration teams in all aspects.

Role/Purpose

To support the Partners and Practice Manager in the day-to-day running of the surgery, enabling the Practice to meet its agreed aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe and effective working environment

Deputise for the Practice Manager in the Practice Manager’s absence

To be involved in the management and development of non?clinical Practice staff

Support the Practice Manager in delivering the HR objectives by ensuring the administrative aspects are duly completed

Work productively with staff ensuring effective and efficient operations day to day.

Motivate, develop, and empower staff, leading by example.

Adopt a problem-solving approach to identify solutions to challenges within the service.

Be visible and directive, ensuring consistent and timely decision-making.

Responsibilities

The Operations Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Operational Management
  • HR Administration
  • Health and Safety
  • Facilities and Contracts Management

We envisage the post holder will work 25 - 30 hours per week

Experience:

Essential

Proven HR and Contract Administration Skills

Experience of working within NHS or similar fast paced environment.

Experience in training and development of team members.

Experience of handling confidential information and data

Desirable

Using EMIS (Clinical database)

Experience of working within Primary Care for a minimum of one year.

Contract negotiation /Facilities Management

Understanding of appraisals process, sickness policies and recruitment process

Qualifications:

Essential

Minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade A- C / NVQ2 or 3 or equivalent experience

Desirable

Management or HR qualification
